A crown is a restoration that covers, or "caps," a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, strengthening and improving the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won't solve the problem. Crowns are also used to support a large filling when there isn't enough of the tooth remaining to attach a bridge, protect weak teeth from fracturing, restore fractured teeth or cover badly shaped or discolored teeth

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap. These anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth with a replacement tooth/teeth in between. These replacement teeth are called pontics and can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain or a combination of these materials. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants.

What Are the Benefits of Dental Bridges?

  • Restore your smile
  • Restore your ability to properly chew and speak
  • Maintain the shape of your face
  • Distribute the forces in your bite properly by replacing missing teeth
  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position
